Our modern X-Ray equipment ensures your pet has minimal exposure
to radiation, while our automatic processor produces clear, quality films.
Within minutes, we can have your pet's veterinary X-rays taken,
processed and ready for interpretation by our doctors. We also offer
OFA Xrays to screen for hereditary hip and elbow dysplasia.
PennHIP is a multifaceted radiographic technology (x-ray) for hip evaluation. The technique assesses the quality of the canine hip and quantitatively measures canine hip joint laxity. The PennHIP evaluation method is more accurate than the current standard in its ability to predict the onset of osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease (DJD), is the hallmark of canine hip dysplasia. Dr. DeYoung is one of an elite group of Veterinarians in the United States who are certified to perform PennHIP evaluations. This procedure utilizes a "distraction index" based on the percent of the femoral head (ball of the hip joint) that lies outside the acetabulum (socket of the hip joint). When a distracting force, using special equipment, is applied to the joint, a dog's hip dysplasia can be determined. PennHIP evaluation may be done as early as 4 months of age.
We offer senior screenings that can
include remote cardiologist and
radiologist consultations.
